Taking “Social Group Exercise” to a whole new level! Includes coffee!

If you love a good coffee, a morning workout and a catch-up with friends, but don’t seem to have time to do it all, our Sunrise Social Paddle is just what you need! It’s an hour on the water, enjoying some brisk, but low-impact exercise, whilst waking up with the sun, enjoying a freshly made coffee from the Lavender Bay cafe. Catch-up with friends and watch the sun rise, before you head to the office.

The plan:

This early morning paddle covers the beautiful foreshore of Lavender and Blues Point. It’s perfect for beginners or even regular kayakers who enjoy and appreciate the early morning sunrise and a good coffee.

We meet at the Lavender Bay boat ramp 20 minutes before sunrise (check schedule for meeting times as they vary throughout the year), hoping to be out on the water before the sun comes up. For those of us who still have coffee left by the time we’re out on the water, we can enjoy it as we watch the sun rise over the bridge. We will continue on round for an extended paddle around Blues Point Reserve and will be back at the boat ramp between 7am and 7.15am, so you’ll have time for breakfast and a shower before work.

You don’t need to be an experienced kayaker as our kayaks are really stable and you will be instructed and guided by a professional Kayak Instructor. You will be taken through a safety briefing before departure and will be provided with all equipment needed for the paddle.

What’s included in the tour:

• All equipment hire, including a single sit-inside Grifinn Kayak, paddle and life-jacket.
• A dry bag for your phone, keys and camera. (You can also leave these securely in our kayak van).
• A bottle of water.
• A qualified, friendly and experienced Kayak Guide/Instructor.
• An exclusive, small group of just 10 people, including your Guide. (Minimum 2 required per tour).
• Full safety briefing and kayak instruction prior to departure.
• A pre-ordered coffee from the Lavender Bay cafe.

What to bring/wear:

• Wear light, comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (from paddle splash).
• Hat and sunnies are advisable, so you can enjoy the sunrise.
• You are likely to get wet from paddle splash, so bring spare clothes to change into.
• A towel to dry off after the paddle.
• Current launch location is Lavender Bay Boat Ramp.

Getting to Lavender Bay Boat Ramp:

There is plenty of parking on Lavender Crescent, as you head down towards Railway Avenue.
If coming by bus or by train, you can get off at North Sydney train station and it’s a 5-10 minute walk if you use the steps next to the Harbourview Hotel, followed by the stairs that lead down to the water from the Harbourside Indian Restaurant on Lavender Street.
